Almost Full Moon (99%) April 2023

Starlog April 7th, 2023, 12:54 a.m. local time

Very clear skies this early morning offered a prime opportunity to observe and photograph a nearly Full Moon. I am please with this result, much more so that my 88% attempt several nights before. Here I used my smaller 127mm telescope over my big Dobsonian. The Mak-Cass is definitely more suited to pinpoint imaging of small, bright objects. The large Dobsonian excels at wide-field views and for locating faint stars (and planets).

Equipment Used:

  • 127mm Mak-Cass telescope
  • 23mm eyepiece
  • No eyepiece filter
  • iPhone 14 Pro

  • Nightcap app on iPhone
  • f/1.8
  • 1/4000 sec exposure
  • ISO 57
  • Focal length: 7mm
  • Minor touchups in PaintShop Pro and AfterShot Pro
