There is a repeating theme this week – clear and calm temperatures, with every clear night revealing more of the Moon to see and photograph.
Lunar Photography
The 36% Waxing Crescent Moon, May 2023
This week’s lunar trek continues with another evening of clear sky and an easier target.
The 14% Waxing Crescent Moon, May 2023
Another clear night, another clear shot at May’s Waxing Crescent Moon in the evening sky after Sunset. Taken with my 127mm Mak-Cass telescope and iPhone 14 Pro with NightCap.
Venus and Moon, May 2023
A clear sky showed the prime event of the week – Venus and the Moon in proximity after Sunset. Photographed with my Canon EOS SL3.
The 6.4% Waxing Crescent Moon, May 2023
After nearly a month of waiting through overcast and wildfire smoke haze, I had a chance to see and photograph May’s young crescent Moon.
Almost Full Moon (99%) April 2023
Very clear skies this early morning offered a prime opportunity to observe and photograph a nearly Full Moon.
Waxing Gibbous Moon 88%, April 2023
Despite the colder temperatures and increasing wind, I used my homemade Dobsonian telescope tonight to photograph the Moon approaching Full.
Moon in Late February, 2023
I have not posted an image of the Moon since last year, for a variety of reasons, but here is a good one from this past cycle in late February 2023.
Lunar Eclipse through iPhone 14 Pro, November 2022
I photographed the eclipse this morning 4 a.m. I used my iPhone 14 Pro with “Night mode” for the final image, through 127mm Mak-Cass telescope.
First Moon with iPhone 14 Pro
Tonight was my first opportunity to try photographing the Moon with my new iPhone. All in all, it went well, I think, for this inaugural attempt.
