An aging Waning Moon means the current early evening skies are free of moonlight. So the skies should be good for stargazing, if they are clear.

This picture finally reveals the details of the Moon I have been looking for through the unaided iPhone camera.

I would like to say that today’s image was made possible from careful planning and thoughtful execution.

This was taken with my smartphone, proving again that these devices have some marginal value beyond looking at pictures of Cheerios.

About 90 minutes before sunset the Moon’s crescent stood out in front of a paling blue sky through wisping clouds overhead.
