Rings of Envy: The Untold Story

Just a brief note on my last posting: I have wanted to start an accompanying blog comic strip for a while. I used to draw, and thought such an endeavor would be a fun compliment to my writings.

With the help of AI, I have been diligently planning a comic idea and format. I worked on the premise, drawing style, and character profiles. It was getting close to making pilot strips.

“Rings of Envy” is not that comic.

As with many adventures, I stumbled onto this idea, and decided to run with it. I do a lot of concept image generations with the help of AI, and this one stuck with me – simple, straightforward, easy to latch onto especially from my astronomy and astrophotography angle.

Yes, its first images are AI-generated. That was part of my plan all along, to describe my vision and enable AI to build a few template candidates, then ultimately take over the drawing myself. It won’t be quick or easy, but I am very much looking forward to the challenge of regularly drawing again.

As for that “other” comic, my original idea, it will be put on hiatus. I can always revisit it at a later time.

I am the founder and creative director of Computer Looking Up. I have been fascinated by space since childhood. My interest in technology also runs deep, rooted in fond memories of the CRT-anchored desktops my father tinkered with in the early 1980s. Professionally, I have spent over 30 years immersed in the technology sector, serving in capacities ranging from programming and IT to project management. Outside of work, my passions lie in astrophotography, astronomy, and philosophy. Through ComputerLookingUp.com, I explore these interests and aim to build a community where we can share insights—I hope you will join the conversation.
