I realized I hadn’t taken a direct digital camera picture of the Moon in some time.  With the sky clear and weather pleasant, I gave it a shot, no pun intended.

On a side note, I missed the Perseid meteors this year as the sky was bad most of last week.  Fortunately, this week looks excellent so I should be able to get my telescope out in a few day’s for Jupiter’s opposition.

Forget about all the craziness in the world for a bit, and weather permitting, go outside and enjoy the night sky this evening!

Image settings for reference:

  • f/8
  • 1/100 sec exposure
  • ISO 100
  • 300mm lens
  • Minor post-processing in PaintShop Pro

Paul

I have been fascinated by space since childhood. My interest in technology also runs deep, rooted in fond memories of the CRT-anchored desktops my father tinkered with in the early 1980s. Professionally, I have spent over 30 years immersed in the technology sector, serving in capacities ranging from programming and IT to project management. Outside of work, my passions lie in astrophotography, astronomy, and philosophy. At my blog, I explore these interests, and I hope you will join the conversation.
