Log date April 18th, 2026, 6:45 p.m. local time

Our weather has not been good for much lately, with serial thunderstorms and the occasional tornado watch. We seem to have a reprieve for several days, but at a price. Though sunny, this late afternoon walk was marred by cold temperatures (below 50 F) and high wind gusts, making practically a winter day.

There is some evidence of the wind in the accompanying picture. An astute observer may notice the waves. This is a small lake, so nothing dramatic, but I do not recall seeing the water that unstable before.

Including the Sun reminded me I have not taken solar pictures for a while. I will try to change this trend in 2026. And I am curious to check on sun spot activity. Sure, I could just look it up on the Internet, but where’s the fun in that?

I am the founder and creative director of Computer Looking Up. I have been fascinated by space since childhood. My interest in technology also runs deep, rooted in fond memories of the CRT-anchored desktops my father tinkered with in the early 1980s. Professionally, I have spent over 30 years immersed in the technology sector, serving in capacities ranging from programming and IT to project management. Outside of work, my passions lie in astrophotography, astronomy, and philosophy. Through ComputerLookingUp.com, I explore these interests and aim to build a community where we can share insights—I hope you will join the conversation.
