Ducks are no strangers to these pages. They are a familiar presence, and here they are again, captured on a walk this afternoon.

I spotted several groups of mallards along the way, though most remained tucked away in the brush near the shore. I chose to leave them undisturbed, knowing they were content in their cover—and likely too hidden to make for compelling photographs anyway.

From my perspective, these two are more than just a subject; they are a sign. As we emerge from such a long and at times brutally cold winter, they serve as a gentle reminder that spring is finally near. Here’s to the changing season and the promise of more time spent outdoors.
