Apparently it is possible to get Jupiter and its moons into the same picture.
I was surprised and a little alarmed at how the sky was brightened.
We usually never see a late afternoon Moon.
After waiting hours for the clouds to clear on Jupiter opposition day, I finally had a chance to photograph it again with my new Canon EOS.
It feels like I’ve posted never-ending sequels about taking the Moon’s picture through my smartphone.
That speck towards the bottom and to the right of center was the Waning Quarter Moon this morning.
After photographing several nights of the pre-Full Moon, now I am interested in the waning daytime phases.
By midnight, I knew I had to stay up a tad longer to see the Moon in proximity to both Jupiter and Spica.
With clouds, the equation changes a bit, so I scaled the shutter all the way up to 1/50 to get this (cropped, as the surroundings are all black).
